Virtual Town Hall on Police Reforms
On Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST, Delegate Jay Jalisi is hosting a Virtual Town Hall meeting on Police Reforms. Maryland's top law enforcement leaders will be joining this Town Hall Meeting to discuss the need for implementing reforms in police departments across Maryland, and pending legislation in the Maryland General Assembly to repeal the Law Enforcement Officer's Bill of Rights (LEOBR). The purpose of the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights is to guarantee certain procedural safeguards to law enforcement officers during any investigation or interrogation or subsequent hearing that could lead to disciplinary action, demotion or dismissal. It also guarantees individual rights to law enforcement officers that are afforded other employees in the workplace. This is an online event.
Joining the virtual town hall meeting is former Attorney General of Maryland and Montgomery County State's Attorney, Doug Gansler. State's Attorneys from Baltimore County, and Prince George's County State's Attorney, Aisha Braveboy and Scott Shellenberger will also join the discussion along with David Rose, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4.
This is a very important event, and an easy way to get involved in the legislative process for the state. This legislation could impact you, your family, friends, and neighbors. Join and make your voices heard. For more information CLICK HERE. REGISTER HERE to attend this event.
