(May 4, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project Sunday night, May 8, to upgrade guardrails on three interchange ramps along I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Baltimore County. The overnight work is expected to be completed by May 16. This work was previously scheduled to begin on April 24 but had been postponed.
The three ramps are part of an MDOT SHA $3.2 million areawide contract to upgrade traffic barriers in Baltimore and Harford counties. MDOT SHA contractor L. S. Lee Inc., of York, Pa., will install the new barriers. Crews will temporarily close interchange ramps overnight and upgrade traffic barriers at the following locations:

9 p.m. Monday, May 9, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 10.

Crews will post portable digital message boards at each ramp in advance of the overnight ramp closure. Temporary traffic signs, reflective barrels and electronic arrow boards will alert and guide motorists through the ramp detour routes. In case of inclement weather, the ramp work and detours will take place on the next possible weeknights, between Sundays and Thursdays.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
