Don't Be A Victim of Theft, Turn Off Your Vehicle
With the arrival of cold, and inclement weather, the Baltimore County Police Woodlawn Precinct wants to get out an important message. Lock your doors and stop leaving your vehicles running unattended. This is a seemingly harmless practice, but could result in having your vehicle stolen. It takes a thief just seconds to commit the crime. Car thieves are constantly on the prowl, searching for their next victim. The crime triangle shows you that you can not stop a criminal's desire to commit a crime, nor can you stop their ability to commit crimes. However, you can stop this from happening by removing the opportunity to commit the crime simply by removing the key from the ignition, and locking your vehicle doors.
Other consequences for leaving your vehicle running and unattended is that you may be issued a citation. It's against the law. Police will be placing signs in your local convenience stores and gas stations as a reminder. If you are a victim of a crime, call 9-1-1 immediately. Be sure to give your location, make, model, color, and registration plate of your vehicle. If you have any questions, contact your local police department at 410-887-4714.
