On June 19, 1865, Union Army General, Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas. He informed the enslaved Africans, of the end of the war and of slavery in United States. Juneteenth is officially recognized as a holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. It is also called Emancipation Day or Juneteenth Independence Day. The name “Juneteenth” references the date of the holiday, combining the words “June” and “nineteenth.”
On Saturday, June 18th, between 12 noon and 3 pm, there will be two Juneteenth celebrations in the Randallstown area. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Baltimore County Alumnae Chapter is hosting their annual
