Africa Day, also known as African Liberation Day, is an annual commemoration held on May 25th to celebrate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963. The OAU was established with the goal of promoting unity and solidarity among African nations and supporting the decolonization and independence movements across the continent. Africa Day serves as an opportunity to honor the achievements and progress made by African nations, as well as to reflect on the challenges that remain.

It is a day to celebrate African culture, heritage, and diversity, and to promote the ongoing development and integration of African countries. This day we will celebrate with various activities and events, including cultural performances, music festivals, conferences, and exhibitions that showcase African traditions, arts, and achievements. It is also an occasion to address issues and challenges facing the continent, such as peace and security, economic development, human rights, and regional cooperation.

Africa Day is celebrated not only in Africa but also by African communities and organizations around the world. It serves as a reminder of the shared history and aspirations of African people, fostering a sense of pride, unity, and solidarity among Africans globally.

Parking:  Parking is available on Gwynndale Avenue (east side of the park). Do not block or park within 5 feet of any driveway.
